The Sunday Fix?

Carnival Glory?

Amidst the revelling,
Music and parties
Let’s celebrate God’s glory.
In every sequin
Pattern and bright colour
This is God’s glory

Amidst the eating,
Drinking and dancing
Let’s hold up God’s glory.
In every movement,
Gyration and footstep
This is God’s glory

Amidst the chaos,
Noise and bedlam,
Let’s remind others of God’s glory.
In every stitch,
Costume and head-dress
This is God’s glory

But the enemy is at work
Turning God’s glory to evil
In all good things, there is temptation too
In all the splendour, there is danger,
The slippery slope is greased,
The drink is plentiful,
The flesh is exposed,
The inhibitions unleashed

Help us to be wardens of your glory
Help us to be a beacon to your love
Help us to attract lost souls to your light

Like moths flittering aimlessly
Let us draw these party spirits closer to you
And when they touch your glorious glow
They will be marked by your promise of new life
Fluttering close to you Lord is all we ask.
